Vote for JOEL LANDAU ... "For Positive Change"

LANDAU: A LEADER IN ADOPTION OF CLIMATE POLICY

At its meeting on August 21, 2007 the Greensboro City Council adopted The US Mayors Climate Protection Agreement by a vote of 7 to 0. This Agreement is part of a nationwide 'Cool Cities' campaign. Over 600 cities nationwide have adopted the Agreement, pledging to reduce greenhouse gas emissions at the local level.

Council's action was the result of a successful effort by the local Cool Cities group. Joel Landau was a leader of this group, which involved the active participation of about a dozen concerned citizens. There was also widespread support in the community: over 100 citizens emailed Council members on this issue, and over 50 showed up at both Council's August 7 meeting and the August 21 meeting. In response to the Cool Cities initiative, the City has added a 'Global Warming' section to the City website: www.greensboro-nc.gov. Landau also spoke at a September 19th ceremony, whereby the Mayor accepted a Plaque recognizing Greensboro as a Cool City, committed to combating greenhouse gas emissions.
