Vote for JOEL LANDAU ... "For Positive Change"

Landau's Open Government Request Adopted

The City Manager has implemented a request made by Joel Landau before the City Council on 10/18/05. (For the full text of Landau’s request see “Comments to City Council, 2005”). The Manager ordered and installed new software that allows all Council meeting agenda attachments to be placed on the Greensboro City website. Prior to this change, citizens did not have ready access to loans, grants, and other matters approved by the Council. The details of many of these transactions were in agenda attachments that the public didn’t see; often these matters were approved without discussion as part of the “Consent Agenda”. As a result of adoption of Landau’s proposal, citizens now have easy, direct access to the info distributed to Council, including the details of all financial transactions.

In Landau’s words, “This is a step forward for open, transparent government. The public has the right to see exactly how City government is using our money. I applaud the City Manager and Council for implementing my request."
